Can you say at this point what Kyle Bosman's on-screen segment will be about?
It's something called Dear Bosman. Great segment, he shot a few of them so it will probably appear often....but we want your feedback on it.
Have you seen NX?
Nope I have not.
What's your favorite Valve game?
Wow great question. Probably Half-Life 2. I wrote a long story about the making of that game and man there were so many twists and turns like the code theft/leak and all the missed release dates. But the game that eventually came out was worth it.
Will the show actively change format, or do you have a pretty solid outline of what you're going for?
The great thing about a weekly live show is that we can flex the format every week. That's one of the appeals of this show. Something like The Game Awards is great but we only get to do it once a year.
This show is really an experiment- sort of like a theater workshop. We'll be trying different things every week to see how the audience responds.
Through all your years of covering games, what has been your most rewarding & worst experiences?
Most rewarding experience was probably the first year of The Game Awards -- designing the trophy, all the publishers/developers coming together to support it. Big risk, but very rewarding.
Worst experience was probably Doritos-gate and how that spun out of control.
What's Kyle Bosman's role on the show? Are you gonna have any of the other guys from Easy Allies on the show someday?
Looking forward to your next interview with Kojima, hope you're gonna be able to give us a look behind the curtains of Death Stranding.
Cheers Geoff!
Kyle is a producer on the show, and also has a segment called Dear Bosman.
Hey geoff when you did the interview on Marcus' Corner you seemed pretty annoyed during the interview, were you actually upset or was that planned ahead? Interview in question
That was all planned out with mega64. Love those guys.
Hi Geoff, I met you briefly at Gametrailers one day.
I've heard that you know a lot of announcements far in advance. How do those work and are there any examples of announcements that you knew well beforehand? How often do you get a "codename" for a game and just a few words of description, and have to plan a segment anyway without really knowing what the game is?
Good question. I tend to know most of the big announcements in advance and am very careful with that information. Kojima pitched me "The Phantom Pain" probably about a year before we revealed it at VGAs. It varies really by the publisher and the game.
Sometimes people think I know more than I do. For instance around the launch of The Last of Us Naughty Dog was convinced I somehow found out that Nolan North was in the game, which they were trying to keep secret. But I actually didn't know until I played it.
When will you be releasing The Final Hours of Half-Life 3?
First they need to make the game...
(Yeah I just used three periods!!!)
Hey Geoff! Any Chance of getting Ron Gilbert on to talk about Thimbleweed Park since you're a fan of the old school Point and clicks? I'm a fan of them too and think they deserve more lovin'! Keep up the good work Geoff and have a great show!
Would love to have Ron on the show sometime - he's a legend. Want to cover indie games too.
How is this show funded? How will you ensure that real opinions/questions/criticisms/concerns/excitement that the gaming community has is not treated with radio silence?
The show is produced by my company and YouTube. Watch the first show and let us know what you think....we'll be covering lots of real topics.
When will we be able to buy (or get) tickets for The Game Awards? Also how are those world exclusives cooking for this years show? Seeing the banner at E3 this year was quite a surprise!
Tickets for Game Awards will go on sale later in October!
Excited about what's coming together for December. Should be a very special night this year.
How many layers will you be wearing?
I don't know! Have to meet with wardrobe dept.
Have you been working on a follow up to "The Final Hours of TitanFall" for the second game?
I want to do an update but haven't had the time.
Hi Geoff! Any chance if you and your team will be doing more coverage on Final Fantasy 15, The Last Guardian and Gravity Rush 2 when these three get closer to there release day in there own episode? Thanks! =)
Yep we're looking at all those. I think Ueda-san is going to come on the show. Was going to be next week but with the delay I think he's still tinkering. Think you'll see him on the show later in Oct or Nov.
When will Valve update the gun sounds again in CSGO? Tomorrow or Saturday?
No clue, sorry!
I appreciate everything you do to keep the game awards running. Your Kojima shout out last year was legendary. 2 questions:
What are your thoughts on the ever decreasing impact of E3 and do you think it will exist for much longer?
Do you expect many big announcements at this year's Game Awards (software and hardware)?
Regarding E3, I want E3 to continue to survive and prosper. E3 is so important to our industry -- I've been to all 22 shows. But it needs to be reinvented. I've been spending a lot of time thinking about that these past few months.
It will be a great Game Awards this year. Really exciting stuff coming together for December 1st. A lot can change in 60 days, but good momentum so far for some amazing content and guests.
Will there be a The Final Hours of Titanfall 2?
Nope! Would have loved to do it, but just too busy right now with YouTube show and Game Awards. Hope to get back to Final Hours soon.
Will you cover any non-video game events on the channel? Lots of board games are becoming popular with YouTube Gaming.
We're definitely open to that. How do you think we should cover?
How many secret announcements do you know about currently? And how hard is it to keep them secret?
Not hard when you don't tell anyone. I know some things LOL.
Have you seen the video about PT Silent Hills and Death Stranding being related and connected? It has some mind blowing evidence! I figured you would be interested in something like that.
No shoot me a link!
How does it feel to be the posterboy of the soulless product promotion and conflicts of interest that have led in part to the rapidly decreasing consumer confidence in the the gaming journalism industry in the last few years?
I'm trying my best -- the world of journalism/media is rapidly changing and evolving. Not saying I've done everything right, but I work tirelessly to find new ways to cover games and get them out there to the world. What do you think I should be doing differently?
