» All Soft rock Artist InterviewsMy name is Erick Sanchez. Last year, I raised a little over $30,000 on Kickstarter in nine days to have Kenny Loggins play in my Living Room. I appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and TMZ, and last Sunday, Kenny and his band (Blue Sky Riders) performed a 75-minute acoustic set in my living room, including a special world exclusive acoustic performance of ‘Danger Zone’ with country singer Jessy Lynn Martens (
Ask me about my Kickstarter campaign, preparing for the show, the show itself, and getting to know Kenny Loggins over the year.
I am a 29-year old PR consultant in Washington, D.C. and my firm is Frontier Solutions (

UPDATE 8:52PM EST: I'm hungry so I'm going to go find some tacos real quick. Keep the questions coming.
UPDATE 9:22PM EST: I'm back. Those tacos got polished real quick.
Why did you choose to do this during the Riley Reid AMA? Don't you realize that most of Reddit is over there waiting for her to answer the "do you ever fuck regular guys" question?
My sincere apologies to Ms. Reid for offering competition to what I'm sure is an intelligent, politically focused discussion.
Does he go by K logg in real life?
I don't think he'd mind if you called him that. He pretty much goes by Kenny, except I call him my BFF.
Erick, what are you going to do now that your very successful Kenny Loggins show is behind you? Can we get into some mischief together? Also, what happened to the hot dog truck you said was going to be at your party? I didn't eat beforehand because I really wanted hot dogs. Did I imagine the hot dog situation? Didn't you say there were going to be hot dogs?
You're the best. Thanks for coming Zack. Kenny's engaged to get married next year, so I'm hoping to crowdfund a project to perform all of his songs at the reception. It'll be the best moment combined with the worst moment of his life.
Who is your favorite celebrity to ~~troll~~ engage with on social media?
Definitely Steve Guttenberg. I'm basically lobbying him to get back together with Ted Danson and Tom Selleck for the third installment of the best movie franchise of all time.
You beautiful bastard you. When can I give you money to fund a buddy cop movie with Sinbad? (Stay out of my posting history. Don't make it weird)
I would love to cast Sinbad in a buddy cop film. He would play both partners and it would be called, "Singood Cop, Sinbad Cop."
And the hot dog thing, did I make that up? Didn't you promise hot dogs?
I think I said, "This show is gonna be hot, dawg." You got it twisted.
Erick, I heard you were in colorado recently. How was your experience and were you in the danger zone at any point?
I'm actually here in Denver at the moment with my good friend John drinking refreshing seltzer waters on his deck.
On a more personal level, what are your favorite films?
I just saw 'Coming to America' with my buddy Phil over the weekend, and it's definitely my all-time favorite. It was the first movie my dad let me watch when I was five, which explains a lot. I also have a penchant for buddy cop films. I'm working on a script of my own. Check out http://cageandjuice.tumblr.com/
Ha thats bad ass. Do you think he would ever do an AMA with you?
He might! I haven't asked but he does love emerging online media tools. He's on tour right now, so I probably won't bug him until he gets back home.
Erick! We got drunk together at bachelor party a few summers ago. If I started (and funded) a Kickstarter campaign to buy the Charlotte Hornets hat you were wearing would you part with it?
Dude, that's a tough one. Nothing screams, "Can I see your 'wine by the glass' menu?" like that dope snap-back.
Is there any truth to the rumor that you do all this just to annoy Brad Bauman?
I would never want to annoy Brad Bauman. He completes me.
Did he take you to the DANGER ZONE?
Took me right into it. The cross streets of the house became the highway to it.
Who exactly is...Kenny Loggins aka your bff?
He was birthed by a pack of wolves, given the pipes of a Greek God, and regularly travels by Panzer.
Am I the only one that's just here for the whole Cherlene thing?
Jessy's a real sweetheart. She reached out to me as the campaign was gaining steam, and flew all the way out from Alaska just for this performance. Be sure to check out her website.
Did he play any caddyshack tunes?
He threw in "Danny's Song" AND "House at Pooh Corner." Straight up tore the roof off the house.
How did you convince people to fund $30K for this? Great job pulling it off, I'm just genuinely curious.
It's definitely it's own story. I started by posting on Facebook and Twitter, and then I pulled a list of music/tech reporters and sent them a press release about the project. Anytime an article got placed, I was sure to post each one on all of my digital tools to demonstrate momentum. I also sent the same reporters those articles to show them how the campaign was progressing.
It was really exciting for my friends, and some site my appearance on Kimmel as the reason they decided to donate-- to see it through.
H. Jon Benjamin also gave me $5,000.
Does it feel unreal? When you think back, does it feel like that happened to you?
I still have no idea what the heck happened last weekend. I mean, I had guests from Ohio, LA, Chicago, New York, and even London. We live streamed to almost 10,000 people. Kenny and Jessy played that version of 'Danger Zone' for the first time live. Kenny Loggins used my childhood bedroom as his dressing room. I had two press conferences with KENNY LOGGINS. I'll never be able to believe that all happened.
Any more living room shows planned in the future? How about Steve Winwood? I heard his fee is around $30,000 as well....
God, I love Steve Winwood. So much. Just saw him live a few years ago-- almost cried during 'Mandolin Rain.' A living room show is definitely a lot of work, but I can't rule anything out.
What are your favorite pizza toppings?
I'm pretty traditional. Cheese and pepperoni. My favorite slice is at Artichoke Pizza in New York. You should check 'em out next time (or first time) you're there. I don't know where you are, geographically.
how do you feel about the Iran nuclear deal?
Doesn't matter. It's in Congress, you know, where nothing gets done anymore, anyway.
Were you in the danger zone?
The zone couldn't have been more dangerous.
How does it feel to have gone so deep into the danger zone and come out alive?
Just lucky to be able to live to tell the story.
Hey Erick, where in DC was this house w/ a living room that could fit 50 people?
I originally wanted to have it in my apartment in D.C., but my building wasn't having it. I went with my folk's place nearby in Northern Virginia. It was a much better choice, we had way more space for people to roam, eat artisinal pop tarts, and drink boozy root beer floats from my buddy Brandon's ice cream truck (https://instagram.com/mmmgoodies/)
What's your favorite episode of The Simpsons?
Any episode with 'Bleeding Gums Murphy' in it. I know Kenny was portrayed in one, though: https://simpsonswiki.com/wiki/Kenny_Loggins
Sounds like a pretty great Sunday Funday. Did you do anything on Monday to celebrate your successful Kickstarter campaign?
All I know is that I found a note from my condo building's board of directors left me a very nasty note. Our wrap-up party was way too aggressive.
Hey Erick, if you and your Denver friend John were catering lunch for a group, which would you get - Corner Bakery or Garbanzo?
Definitely not Corner Bakery. That's a real 'phoning it in' approach to a group lunch. Would it kill someone to maybe cater Mexican?
Weddings cost 30 grand.
So do cars and (some of) college.
Was this worth it?
This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, absolutely. The brilliance of crowdfunding, if you do it right, is giving everyone a chance to experience something special. Here, it was either being at show, watching it from home, or enjoying some of the other perks offered.
What'd he have to drink?
Water during the show, wine after. He specifically likes this bottle: http://www.whwc.com/p/320960?utm_source=amazon&utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_campaign=feeds&utm_content=Belle+Glos+Pinot+Noir+Meiomi+Monterey/Santa+Barbara/Sonoma+2013&vfsku=320960&vfsku=320960&gpla=pla&gclid=CPuMvq7n_McCFQUFaQodA9oGOg
Do me a favor and tell Salsbury to suck it.
Just did. He's hurt as a result
Ah damn she was up here? I'm bad at finding out when cool people visit Alaska. Then again I don't look that hard either...
Yeah she had a residency up there for awhile. She's in California now, probably continuing to be dope.
Sanchez wine club
Hell yes.
What are you asking him for? It wasn't even his money.
Touché.
Did you sing along to Danger Zone/Did he play Danger Zone/Did you quote Archer while singing Danger Zone?
All three! Look at the link above.
Could you try harder?
I'm too tired. It's been a long weekend/week. I love your Instagram account. I would like to eat everything you cook.
