» All Actor InterviewsHi, I'm a Toronto actor. I come from Canada, so I love hockey, and I believe in giving back when you get the opportunity to. You might recognize me as “Eli Goldsworthy” from DEGRASSI. And most recently, I starred as “The Kid” in TURBO KID, which made its world premiere at Sundance 2015 and which will be a featured film at SXSW this year.

Update Thank you guys for coming on here, and asking some great questions. I appreciate everything you guys have said, and I hope I can keep doing work that you guys can relate to and like. Keep an eye out for TURBO KID!
Hey Munro! I am a HUGE fan of Degrassi, i have a couple questions for you..I would like to know what it's like being apart of such a huge show with such a giant cast that continues to grow..also what is your favorite episode? and who is your favorite character? If you could play a character other than Eli who would it be? also will you go to my senior ball with me? (LOL had to ask--been a fan for years) I also ship Clare/Eli all the way! Thank you so much for doing this! Big Fan!
It's really awesome to be part of such a big ensemble because there really is - just a really fun group. Just some of Canada's best actors collaborating and trying to make a great product. My favorite episode for me to work on was an episode we did this season, towards the end of the season, so I can't really say what it is about, but know that this is a really amazing episode. And my favorite character...on DEGRASSI...probably... a good friend of mine, Demetrius Joyette, plays a character named Dallas, and his character is a dick but a really good person inside, and I really like that character because he was very hard on the surface, but had a good heart, and was very consistent. That's a tribute to Demetrius' acting.
And thank you for 'shipping us. I may be out of the country at that time, but have a great time.
Back in the day I was a huge degrassi fan, but one question. If you could play any original degrassi character (jimmy, JT, Marco...) who would it be? By the way? You're an incredible actor and my middle school crush aha
Well, my character's really similar to Jake Epstein's character from back in the day, because both our characters were bipolar, so him. But if I could do another character, Jordan Todosey, she portrayed Adam, who was transgender, so if I could play another character, I would do him, but as M-to-F.
Munro, you said once that you ship Eclare. Do you still ship them after all they gone through ?
I do. I think there's a big piece of me that really loves them. Part of me is really ANNOYED with them, because I've been through everything they've been through, but i do ship them. I think they are soulmates. Every single time they are torn apart, they find their way back to each other, and that's something special, especially at DEGRASSI.
So what project is next on the horizon for you Munro? Do you want to continue to concentrate your work in Canada or are you looking to make a move to the States?
I'll go wherever the work is! There's an amazing industry in America, an amazing industry in the UK, anywhere there's good work I can sink my teeth into, I'll go. But my heart will always be in Canada.
Did Drake ever try and convince you to give him a second chance?
HAHAHA!
I've never met the man!
What do you do in private that would be weird in public?
HA HA!
I'm a goofy person, so I kind of make up characters to myself and will talk to myself to play around with different characters.
If you got to star as anybody in a biography, who would you want to play?
Pfffbt. Hmmm.
I don't think I am at the point of doing bio-pics, but I'm looking forward to the roles that come up, and not really looking to any specific role.
Munro, I love your performance on Degrassi as Eli. His struggles with mental illness have helped a lot of people learn more about them, and your portrayal was amazing! Thanks for that.
How has the reception been since playing Eli? (I know he is a controversial character!) Any interesting stories about fan reception?
Also I know you have a twin brother. Does he often receive praise from people thinking he is you?
Ha! Well, number one, thank you for the kind words about my work.
I've been really fortunate that my character's been received really well. I try my best, when I'm given a part, to do it justice, especially with a character that has those mental disorders or anything like that. I was fortunate enough to portray Tourette's in a guest role one time, and I want to do it justice, never mock it. And if I can help people feel like they are not alone, and they are not the only person going through it, and still find my work entertaining, then I've done my job.
Well, he is my twin, so he does get the odd "are you Munro?" but I have 2 brothers, they are way more talented than I am, so they have their own amazing stuff going on, they don't have to worry about me!
Your character is my favorite on Degrassi!
1.) Just how complex he is. I think there's a lot of - he had to deal with a lot of mental disorder during his time at DEGRASSI, and so for me to explore that is kind of fun.
2.) Pfffffbbbt. Well, I always wanted to work with Luke Bullick, he's a good friend of mine, and we never really got to work together until this season. And one CHARACTER would be Dylan Everett's character, Cam Saunders, because I think they had very similar issues and could have helped each other out in the end.
Came across a video of you singing a while back...any plans to continue in that direction?
Haha! Uh... maybe! But I can't talk about it at this time.
What's something we don't know about you?
I love the X-Men. I'm a sucker for a comic book.
Munro! Glad to see you here!
What's it like on set? Like, what do you guys usually do between filming days?
Also what advice would you give to the new cast members?
Ummm.... we watch a lot of YouTube videos, when we're in between scenes, and just a lot of laughs! A lot of us on DEGRASSI are really close friends, a lot of my best friends are on that show, and we try to keep everything light because DEGRASSi can get kind of dark.
It's VERY exciting. I'm always excited to collaborate with new people, and DEGRASSI has been notorious for taking on actors that are quite green, and building them up to be quite good. So to be able to work with actors who've worked for 12 years or 12 months, you see all of them on DEGRASSI and they do great work. It's a tribute to what the writers and producers do, at DEGRASSI.
The X-Men are the best! Who's your favourite? Mine's Emma Frost!
Nightcrawler!
What's your favourite film of the year? 2014 or 15, take your pick! xD
Oooh! I think BIRDMAN struck something with me. Like it lingered with me a couple of days. And on the other side, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 was bad-ass!
Hi Munro, here's 2 questions:
I am ticklish, so don't try to tickle me. I am ticklish in strange places. And what makes me laugh... I like dry, dark comedy sometimes, like a lot of things make me laugh. Puppies falling over, that makes me laugh.
Hi Munro! So excited for Turbo Kid's success and cannot wait to see where we'll see you next!
You've said before you love to cook...what would you consider your BEST dish? :)
I like making pasta. And like, sauces and stuff. I like that. Me and my brothers usually make a stir-fry, and then we fold that into the pasta.
What's one unique thing that we don't know about you?
I've got 4 dogs!
When do you want to become an actor?
I just loved playing characters growing up. When I was a little kid, I always wanted to perform, and I told my parents I wanted to be a cartoon, and they said that wasn't a real job, so from there, they said acting was the next best thing.
What do you look for in a woman? Looks and personality.
I like a person who is genuine. I don't like fake people, so if someone is genuine and nice and smart, then they are good for me.
You're on degrassi.. Drake was on degrassi.. Now he's a famous rapper.. I believe you could be the next Drake.
Can you write us a little something to showcase your lyrical talents?
Hahahaha!
I'm definitely not a rapper, I can't spit bars. I'll leave the rapping up to Drake, I don't feel like embarrassing myself today.
as a 'Degrassi' alum, what do you think of the New Zealand show 'The Tribe'?
of your many pairs of shoes, which are the ones that when you put them on you are most likely to think to yourself 'damn, these are some nice shoes.'?
I've actually never seen that show yet!
But I would like to check it out!
Well, I'm from Canada, so a good pair of Tim's always do me well.
If you could make Degrassi take place in any other city in the world, which city and why?
Hmmm. Rome! Because then all the students could go in the Colosseum and battle it out there!
which american actor does the best/most convincing canadian accent?
I don't think I've actually heard someone do a Canadian do a Canadian accent? Ryan Gosling's got a Brooklyn thing going, but don't take that wrong Gosling, you're fantastic! Jim Carrey doesn't count, Mike Myers doesn't count. Jim Carrey did a nice "Valley" Canadian accent in the latest ANCHORMAN.
wow hey first just want to say that yr one of my favorite people thank you so much for portraying ELI so perfectly, anyways what's your favorite tv show at the moment?
Oooh. I'm a GAME OF THRONES NUT! I'm an addict at that! I want to start watching VIKINGS. Breaking Bad's done, so I am trying to find a new addiction.
what's yr favorite song at the moment?
I've been listening to Drake's new album, and I like it.
It's so DEGRASSI of me. But it just came out! I think it's called 6 AM - or 6 PM - in New York?
And Kendrick Lamar - Blackberry, I think that's what it's called.
have you watched the 100?
YES, I've seen a couple episodes! A few of my friends are on that show, and it's a really nice show.
what's your favorite place to visit?
New York! I love that city, I always have found Toronto a "baby New York" or a "New York Junior" but going to New York is always a good time!
Hey Munro! Im a huge fan of your work! How is LA going? and Do you have any upcoming projects coming up other the Degrassi and Turbo Kid? and What is your favorite place to go when your back home in Toronto and What was your favorite scene ever to do on Degrassi? Ps thank you for playing Eli so well
Thank you for enjoying the show! Right now i can't discuss things that are coming up in the future, but I'm just trying to enjoy the unexpected success of TURBO KID. And I love to hang out anywhere in Toronto with my core group of friends - we like to go to a local pub or restaurant, or anywhere my family is.
Hi there, Munro! I'm a college student, and I want to go into the entertainment business after I graduate. I've done Theater all my life, and I'm really passionate about acting and writing. Do you have any tips for an aspiring actor like myself? Thanks!
That's awesome, number one!
Just stay determined. Don't let the word "No" discourage you. Get excited about the word "No" and learn to love it, so that when you hear that "Yes" it's that much more satisfying.
Which movie are you rooting for at the Oscars?
BIRDMAN and WHIPLASH! I love those films, I thought they were great.
What was your favorite subject in school?
Will Eli's Degrassi storyline end when Clare graduates?
Well, you never know. We did a couple webisodes for Eli's time in New York, but they've been through a lot in the past 4-5 years. So maybe they deserve a break. But the DEGRASSI writers are really smart and good at their job, so you never know.
How do you think cam died? Apparently there's no right or wrong answer.
Favorite degrassi episode that you've been in?
And any chance of a Drew/Clare/Eli threesome any time soon?
We don't want to discuss how it happened. We just wanted to shed light that that kind of stuff happens, and there are ways around it - there's always someone to talk to. But the specific details are not important.
My favorite episode to shoot is coming up later this season. But also, there was a huge brawl that happened in Fiona's apartment, and i got to punch one of my best friends in the face, so that was a lot of fun!
HAHAHA! Uh, you never know. It's DEGRASSI!
So you're at Tim's, what do you usually get?;)
Also, if you could go somewhere you've always wanted to, where would you go?
^Hahaha! I get a double-double and a club sandwich. New Zealand! Because i'm a LOTR nut, and I want to go see the Shire!
Have you seen House of Cards or Eastenders?
No, I've never seen EASTENDERS but I have seen HOUSE OF CARDS and it's great. Kevin Spacey is a beast.
Hi Munro. I have been a long time Degrassi fan and I have a lot of respect for how genuinely you are able to portray Eli's array of mental disorders. My question is: Do you enjoy having fans approach you in public with comments about your acting or does it bother you to be questioned by people you don't know at unexpected moments?
No, I really appreciate it. I think it's really nice when people come up to you and say something nice about your work. I've been fortunate enough to get the positives. It's never a bad thing when someone comes up and says they like your work.
If you could write for Eclare- how would you like their story to go?
EPICALLY Over a cliff! All fire, and love, and passion! With flutes playing, with trombones... no I'm just joking. I would love to see them together.
If you woke up tomorrow and had a superpower that you got to choose tonight, what would it be?
Oh my. That's a loaded question.
I always like The Human Torch. I also like Nightcrawler. So any of those 2 would be great.
Is there a time in your childhood/teen yrs that you would LOVE to relive again?
Of course! but you can't live in the past. I'm a strong believer in Hakuna Matata.
More Questions!
1. Whats your favorite hockey team?
2. Who is your best friend on the set of Degrassi?
3. My Ball-posal still stands ;)
1.) TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS, BABY!
2.) Ooooh, that's a hard question. I could make people angry. Probably Justin Kelly and Demetrius Joyette. And Luke Bilyk. It's a loaded question. I can't just say one! AND Ricardo Hoyos!
Favourite Avenger?
Iron Man!
hello Munro! So my question is, and you don't have to answer this, but have there ever been like feuds between cast members on set? Because if there is drama on stage there might as well be drama off stage, right xd?
Hahaha! No, we like to keep the drama on the script. Or on-screen.
Hey sunshine! Can't wait to see turbo kid at SXSW!! I'm a huge fan and enjoy watching you grow as an actor :-)) ps. Pick up your gift I sent u at epitome! Also, what's your favorite food?
I don't know which gift that is? But thank you for the gift! And I love Italian food.
What was the best thing about filming Turbo Kid?
The cast. The cast and crew was amazing, and in such cold weather, we had such a great time.
How was it working with Michael Ironside?
Amazing. He's a very generous actor, he's a veteran in this industry, and I learned a lot from him.
Did your Degrassi character spend time in a wheel chair? (Sorry, I haven't watched Degrassi since the time of Joey Jeremiah, Snake and Wheels).
No. He did have a cane at one point. But he was never in a wheelchair.
I've never heard of you. When do you expect I will?
Well, if you're a 16-18 year old girl that likes DEGRASSI, you can check out TURBO KID sometime, it just premiered at Sundance and will be at SXSW in the next few weeks, so if you're in Austin you should check it out.
