Hello Loveland, I'm here to talk about anything and everything, including my new album 'Love Sex, Passion' which came out yesterday. I also would like to mention my LoveLife Foundation who's mission is dedicated to improving lives through social development, education, health and wellness by partnering with community organizations and other foundations to raise awareness and tackle issues impacting our communities.
I'll be back at 4:30 EST so drop some questions here and see you then.
Hey I'm back on the grind to promote 'Love, Sex, and Passion'. Let's make it #1 Globally, remember I'm nothing without you. Get your tickets for the Ledisi Intimate Truth Tour starring Ledisi, Raheem Devaughn, and Leela James at ticketmaster.com
This concludes the chat.
Be my Valentine 2016?
sure, why not.
Have you ever did a show & during your performance your eyes came across a nice young lady you wanted to get to know on a more personal level?
Of course, all the time. BUT I realized long ago I can't have them all. To look and not touch is dicipline.
First of all Congratulations on your 5th album! I'm proud of you as being a local artist from the DMV. Now, what inspired you to write, sing, and or produce all of these sexy love songs? "Queen" to be exact.
The world is my inspiration, beautiful women are my inspiration (i love women). I feel like women are being misrepresented in R&B and Hip-Hop sometimes and on reality shows as well. So Queen is just an anthem for all women all races, all faces, all sizes.
How do I get a ticket to Loveland?
Buy Love, Sex, and Passion immediately. in stores now.
Who are your favorite Soul Singers?
and a gang of others
What track on the Love, Sex, Passion album are you most proud?
When You Love Somebody. I listen to that song like "WOW, that's me singing that. Where did that come from?"
Huge fan, been riding the love train since The Love Experience.
What inspires you to write outside of music?
sorry I don't understand. Be more detailed.
Who is your fashion icon?
I don't have one at the moment. I'm definitely trying to become more educated in that lane. I wear alot of original pieces though made by Brea Stinson
who are your musical influences of today? r&b and outside of r&b
James Blake, The Roots.
Hip-Hop artists too many to name.
Jodeci, Marvin Gaye, Prince, and this guy named Raheem Devaughn #selfmotivated
If you could collaborate with anyone, dead or alive, who would that be?
Sade, Marvin Gaye, jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Lauren Hill, D'angelo, Patty Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Kanye, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Prince, Frank Ocean, Stevie Wonder, Barry White, Issac Hayes, The Isley Brothers.
Hi Raheem. I feel I'm your #1 Fan. I love the new CD; it's been on repeat. My question for you is, do you forsee doing an extended tour with Lyfe Jennings in the near future?
Me and Lyfe just did a show in Rochester NY together and we've started the conversation on starting a group featuring myself, him, and a few other our colleagues in the soul and R&B world.
When You come to Detroit can You please sing Infiniti?? That wouldbe the best bday gift!
Sure bae. lol. When I headline my own tour in Detroit later this year I'll be sure to.
How often do you sit an write your music?
I never sit and write music. I never write anything down. I only create in the studio with the engineer of my choice. Beat knocking and the mic in record mode. 10 years ++
Do you think you'll ever find that one special woman who you sing about in Terms of Endearment & My Wife? Also, is it still ok to throw panties during your shows? Will you have a M&G at the Houston show?
Throw as many panties as you'd like (clean and perfumed up, lol) Maybe one day, but I've excepted that my gift is not necessarily was meant for me. The music comes through me not from me.
Love your new CD !!!! ... you're always so passionate about your music... what's the spark behind that passion and who or what was your biggest inspiration for the new cd?
My passion is I just want to be great, iconic and legendary. Some songs i'm more personally connected to than others. R&B and soul music was my inspiration, the 90s was the inspiration for this album.
have you seen 50 shades of grey yet?
No. But word on the street is I'm the Christian Grey of R&B and Soul music right about now. I'm #1 R&B album on iTunes and #13 on the top 200 this second!
What influence did growing up in Prince George's County have on you and your career?
Everyday life was the influence
Is Miss Your Sex dedicated to anyone in particular? That song is steamy...right along with Strip, Sun Proof Room, Countdown to Love, & Feather Rock Lovin!
Yeah and no. When I heard the music those are the lyrics that just came out, but I can recall a few lovers from my past that it reminds me of. sips tea
Greetings, what is your favorite love song and why? -Mercedes
I don't know, got too many.
First I want to congratulate you on this amazing piece of art Love Sex and Passion. I am absolutely in love with it already. Black Ice Cream is my favorite track so far. My first question is who is the inspiration behind the beautiful love songs that you create? Also I know that you meet a lot of fans in your travels, but have any women stood out to you? That you could have possibly remembered?
No one person in particular inspires all my songs. Life is my inspiration. The road can become a blur, but I love all my fans the same.
Goldlinks is dope, Chaz French is signed to me. Both of these guys will be huge, it's only a matter of time. #CCCLXVIII
When are you coming to Philly?
Also, what is you personal favorite song off any of your albums?
Within the next 9/10 months I'm sure I'll be in Philly.
I know you don't like taking requests, but can you please sing Terms of Endearment, Miss Your Sex, & Mr. Right at the Houston show? Even if you include Mr. Right in a medley, I'd be happy.
Duly noted. sips tea
Congrats on once again creating another stellar masterpiece! I literally jumped straight up in my bed when I first heard Pretty Lady. I never would have thought to put you and Trombone Shorty together on a track. How did that collaboration come to be?
One of my industry friends baby sam, put me onto trombone shorty and was the plug. he's very down to earth, a great performer, and I'm humble to have this new orleans legend on my track.
What's your favorite restaurant in DC?
my kitchen #imnotjusthardDandbubblegum
What inspired you on this new album?
To be legendary was the inspiration.
where would you like to travel to that you haven't been yet?
Australia and Fugi Islands
When you're creating, how do you come up with the concept of your album? How do you stay away from what's known as the "cookie cutter" R&B artist?
For the creative process, I don't the lyrics down. At some point when I'm working the album, the title and the theme comes to me and from there I just bring it to life with the sequence and order of the songs. The flow is very important to me.
As far as cookie cutter, I keep my ear to the streets and I just never want to fall off. So the trick is staying true to myself while incorporating what's happening right now in music in my own little way. Perfect example #BlackIceCream #MissYourSex
I remixed one of your tunes a few years ago, and I'm particularly happy with the result. I don't want anything, just wondering if you like what I did with it??
Ha! That's kinda dope, it reminds me of a soulful WHAM!/George Michael record. Definitely a dope UK vibe.
Congratulations on your new album and I am so proud of the launch of your Love Life Foundation. I am Author Michelle Harbin I met you in Charlotte at CIAA and you invited me to be on your radio show in Washington DC to talk about Multiple Partner Fertility Awareness. I am asking you if I'm still invited on your show to talk about this serious social issue that affects our community? Please let me know when and I will be there.
Mharbin7@gmail.com is my contact info. Thank you
We will email you. One love.
What was your inspiration for Love Drug? When I heard THAT song, I instantly fell in love with your music!
Honestly, I was in the studio in an environment for days where everyone but me was using hard drugs. Left to write by myself with the engineer I made the best of it. "you as pure as snow from columbia..." lol. I know crazy right.
I also appreciate love and Kings and all those things. Any chance you could PM a brotha a freebie Download link to your new stuff?
No, sorry. This is what has killed the culture, especially in black music. There was a time when my parents couldn't wait for Tuesday to go buy all types of music. Let's get back to that.
Now if you happen to run up on me or you're a fan of the music...maybe I'll give you a free cd. I'm known for doing that.
