Jessica Szohr (2015)
Jessica Karen Szohr is an American actress. Szohr began her screen career appearing on television shows such as CSI: Miami and What About Brian. She gained recognition in 2007 with her breakthrough role as Vanessa Abrams on The CW's teen drama series Gossip Girl. Szohr appeared in the 2010 horror film Piranha 3D, the 2011 comedy I Don't Know How She Does It, and the 2013 film The Internship.

Hi Jessica! I literally just finished Gossip Girl today, like a couple hours ago! For what it was, I actually really enjoyed its ability to make the characters feel real and pretty easy to relate to.
I feel like Vanessa is probably one of the most three-dimensional characters on the show, how she's very best-friendy, down to earth, but eventually becomes the villain. How did Vanessa shape you as an actress, and what's your favorite memory from being on set?

I think Gossip Girl in general taught me that you never really know in tv where your character is going to go. And even if you don't agree with some of what your character is doing... to commit and just go for it.

What is your favorite store to shop?

wow... my favorite to shop...I would say target. I can spend hours in there. I will be in the stationary section, then games, then books, shoes, now food:) For just clothes I like intermix, topshop, a tiny little vintage place in dumbo Brooklyn:)

Piranha 3D. Any real piranhas in the making of the movie?

Well no, but we filmed on a lake in Arizona and when we did night shoots I was frightened at what ever could be in that dark eerie lake. They added the piranhas in post production. So we just had marks for our eye line. Seriously scary tho...eeeeeek

What was it like working on the Internship?

It was fantastic other than my first day shooting the top 6 inches of my hair got burned off. So that was crazy, especially because the first scene was me whipping my hair around... But the cast and crew were super fun to work with! And my pole dancing classes were by far the best work out I have ever done.

Jessica, thanks for doing an AMA! I loved your character on Gossip Girl - GG has always been my go-to guilty pleasure. Which season was your favorite to film? Also, is Ed Westwick as charming as I imagine after years of watching him be Chuck?

I think the first season was my favorite, just because we all just moved to New York and were getting to know more about who are characters were. And to all be there together experiencing that chapter was insane:) And Ed is very charming.

I like the Wisconsin accent, the seasons, the cheese, the fact that my family is there, how loyal all the Packer fans are:) And I met the beautiful TS backstage at a Kings Of Leon concert in New Jersey years back.

I met Dianna through mutual friends who were my neighbors at the time about 10 years ago. And I met Jessica through Chace on 4 of July about 8 years ago. Both wonderful human beings who have huge hearts and are super fun to be around.

I was surprised at some of Vanessas story lines. She had a big heart, and seemed to be proud of being the girl from the other side of the tracks but she was always on the upper east side and the only one who hooked up with the 3 (ues) guys but yet hated that world so much. It is tv so they do write to get reactions but didn't expect that kind of turn out.

What has been your favorite project to work on throughout your career?

I really enjoyed most of my projects! But I would have to say Gossip Girl. It wasn't just the character, it was the whole experience.. the move to New York, learning more about Vanessa and myself, making life long friends. But Kingdom has been an awesome experience as well, a more mature role. And a different world I didn't know to much about, and actors that are unbelievable:)
