just wanted to say it was an honor producing the outro for your album sir...when do you want to work together again? soon i hope hehehe. knxwledge beat was crazy for problems. oh and how was interviewing with the homie marc lamont hill aka ml hill aka big dookie? lol
why you keep calling that shit the outro b it's a track. marc hill is solid. we gotta do more shit kid why don't you hit me on the horn you hitting me on reddit like we not fams
What was it like working with Jonwayne and the rest of the Stones Throw stable on Hallways?
If you have time, drop in and say hi on /r/hiphopheads. We'll give you a warm welcome.
wiggy wayne is brilliant. we got a number of joints that ain't even out yet. wait till y'all hear em. i'm hopeful to do a whole project with him in the future.
"cops get scared of me" has taken on new, insightful meaning for me recently.
I was wondering, how would you advise somebody who's in college, making "left of center" hip-hop music on the side, and unsure of his future?
You have definitely made a difference in my life so far, so thank you regardless.
Peace!
i'm unsure of my future too homey. i know i got gift tho. and i know God got my back
Do you meet other producers you want to work with through word-of-mouth, or is there a certain procedure to it all? I've been a Canadian fan for a long-ass time, i'm not at liberty to say you'd like my production, but damn-straight i'd like to get you to listen to it if I may.
send 2 beats as mp3 attachments to homeboysandman@gmail.com
"You know who sucks too? / Every single rapper that I used to look up to / When I was drinking formula I loved you / Son you had a formula that you should have stuck to."
This can't really be true, can it? What lead you to write this?
the formula part isn't true because i'm still a fan of the sugar hill gang. but cats be falling the fuck off b. it's easier to name cats that haven't fallen off than cats that have at this point. shouts to 3 stacks who never fell off. there's others of course, but andre be that shining star.
what will you do instead?
hey yo man. i ain't never getting arrested. i ain't never getting bullied. i ain't never going out like that. you wanna not get arrested with me? cool. let's chill. i don't know what i'ma do instead. i know what the fuck i'm not going to do tho. i ain't never going out like no sucka never ever i'll be dead and at the next level first and if people don't feel the same as me i guess that's their prerogative.
What’s up, Homeboy Sandman?!! First off thanks for doing this AMA. I’m a huge fan, I’ve been hooked since The Good Sun and I purchase everything you drop day one without hesitation. Hallways is incredible... I’ve had it on constant rotation since Tuesday. I’ve seen you perform live twice and both times have been insane. The show back in January at Gramercy with YC the Cynic was dope. You’re one the best rappers out right now, period.
I have a bunch of question but I’ll narrow it down to just these:
What’s your favorite hip hop album and/or song? What about other genres besides rap?
You rap about not smoking or drinking anymore but was there a time when you were heavy into weed and/or alcohol? What made you move away from those things?
I hope this one isn’t too personal but I’ve heard you mention in songs and interviews that you don’t keep your money in the bank and you don’t even have a checking account. I find this so interesting and I’m just curious about how you function like that. Considering you must get checks from live shows and record labels and stuff like that. How do you cash the checks? And do you just keep your money like in a shoe box under the bed?!
Finally, what’s your favorite thing about New York?
Thanks again for doing this AMA and answering our questions!
i used to smoke 8 times a day and drink until the fight was over. i got my ways of cashing checks. rather break somebody close off for cashing it than a punk ass bank. my money is in my wallet homey. fuck a bank i'm keeping all it in my wallet and it's stuffed/ i never ever count it i just know that it's enough . . . that's from this shit i wrote last week called Handsome wait till that shit come out
How cool is PBJ?
coolest muthafucka alive
Why no essay or article from you about Ferguson when you often speak out against police brutality & in favor of social action?
i'm tired of speaking
How do you feel about the state of Hip-Hop now, and where do you see it going in the future?
hip hop is a beautiful thing b. that's what it's always been and what it's always gonna be. there's sadness and pain and evil and all that involved in it, but it's always beautiful. that's what makes it hip hop. don't let these cats convince you that something that's not beautiful isn't hip hop. these cats are just misusing the word.
YO, will you take the Hip Hop Challenge? What's the top 5 (w/ 1 honorable mention) GOAT Hip Hop songs?!
that's a lot of thinking for right now but my favorite verse ever is mos def's verse on thieves in the night
Is Mambo Tail Tale ACTUALLY a story "based on true events?"
loosely based ;)
If you were to continue with the format of your last three EPs where you worked with a single producer, who are some producers you would like to work with next? Any chance of a collab with Madlib?
"Senile Chef" produced by 2 Hungry Bros coming soon. and some shit produced entirely by Spinna. and jonwayne. and j57. and blu . . .
When can we hear you on a track with Tonedeff from QN5? You're both serious wordsmiths!
peace whattup. i already did a track with tone like 5 years ago but he never put it out wit his lazy ass. i'm a big fan tho and that shit is butters maybe one day he'll put it out.
Hey Homeboy Sandman. I have been listening to the new album all day and it's great - thank you for making it available early! I have mine ordered.
I have a comparison question. In "Not Really" you talk about how things aren't a lot different for you, but it seems like that may have changed after listening to the new album - especially when it comes to your relationships with others and yourself. Would you say that your life has changed now?
my life has always been changing tho you know what i'm saying? what that song is about is even though some things change some things will never change. them things that'll never change, still haven't. relationships be wacky as fuck now but that's always been my MO anyway. shouts to lissette pichardo first girl i ever kissed when i was 11 who i spoke to earlier today
Hello, I am a business student from Latvia, and I would like to know, what is Your recipe for success?
Thanks:)
i do what i think God wants me to do. i don't get involved with too much of that other bullshit.
Why don't you like sports that can end in a tie?
that shit is bugged
Hey Angel, what are your favorite books? Any favorite writers? And congrats on the new album.
i used to really dig brave new world by aldous huxley
Hi!
What's your working relationship with Paul White like? "Chimera" is fantastic, it's one of those magical musical collaborations that manages to hit home every time.
Congrats on a great new album! "Activity" is my current favorite!
Paul White is a wizard i love dude can't wait to get back to london in november and see him. good looks. look out for more shit from me and paulie too.
How tall are you?

I literally made a reddit account based on you doing an AMA, your'e my favorite artist for 2 years now. Love how you keep it how it should be. Have you ever been to New Zealand? If not would you consider coming to do a show or two? Its a beautiful country and hiphop runs through our veins- e.g: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXHNVDtNLnQ
also, what's your opinion on your old droog?
me and sene got a couple joints out. one is called holy mackerel. the other is called so phenomenal i think. i'm a big fan of his.
